Northwood

A relatively affluent suburb, about 15 miles from central London on the border between Middlesex and Hertfordshire.

In 1948, Northwood was the site of Britain’s worst mid-air collision involving a Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS) Douglas DC6 and an RAF Avro York.  All of the 39 people on board the two aircraft were killed.
