Britain By Car - A Motoring History

Cheshire

A mainly rural county that derives its name from the city of Chester.  The north of Cheshire is largely industrial, particularly along the River Mersey.  The middle and south of the county are more agricultural, although the towns of Northwich and Crewe are significant manufacturing centres.
