Essex

Traditionally, the eastern kingdom of the Saxons, Essex is a county of great contrasts. To the south it merges with metropolitan London; on the eastern side there are seaside resorts and remote marshlands; and to the north and west, Essex borders rural Suffolk, Cambridge and Hertfordshire.
