Britain By Car - A Motoring History

Devon

Devonshire is the third largest county in England and well-known for its lovely scenery.  Most of the county is hilly and wooded, with a northern coastline of magnificent cliffs.

Between Exeter and Plymouth lies the Dartmoor National Park, a high moorland, rising in places to more than 2,000 feet above sea level.  Devon is a popular holiday destination, with its sandy beaches and picturesque villages.  It is also an area with a strong maritime tradition, focussed, in particular on the cities of Exeter and Plymouth.
