Beaulieu

Beaulieu

Situated on the River Beaulieu, Beaulieu is a small village located on the south-eastern edge of the New Forest, approximately five miles from the coast.

In 1204, a Cistercian Abbey was founded in Beaulieu by King John; although little of this remains today, the former gatehouse has been retained and enlarged, and today forms Palace House, the ancestral home of the Montagu family.
