Britain By Car - A Motoring History

Tunbridge Wells

An elegant and prosperous spa town, originally established during the 17th century as a place for the rich and well-heeled to take the waters.  Frequent visits by members of the Royal Family in the late 19th and early 20th centuries led to the town being granted the title Royal Tunbridge Wells by Edward VII in 1909.
