Britain By Car - A Motoring History

Retford

A small town in the north of the county, dating back to the 13th century.

Retford’s location on the Great North Road, and later the Chesterfield Canal and London to York railway, greatly contributed to its development during the 18th and 19th centuries.  Many town centre buildings remain from this period.
