Eltham

Eltham

A south London suburb situated about eight miles from the centre of London.

Although today it functions largely as a shopping centre and dormitory town for commuters, Eltham has an interesting history with royal connections, centred on Eltham Palace, used by the Royal Court between the 14th and 16th centuries, and an important art deco house, built in 1933 for Sir Stephen and Lady Courtauld.
