Commentary
After working for Lotus and BRM (for the latter as chief designer), Mike Pilbeam set up his own company in 1975 designing and building cars that raced in almost all forms of motorsport, including F1.
Over the years, however, Pilbeam have probably become best known for their manufacture of single seater hill climb cars, winning the British Hillclimb Championship 17 times since 1979
Today, the company is involved in many consultancy roles and continues to make cars competing in a wide range of formulae, with close links to major manufacturers, such as Lotus.
