Bedford

Situated on the River Ouse, and the county town of Bedfordshire, Bedford has traditionally been a centre for lacemaking, brewing, and a wide range of agricultural industries.

Bedford also has the largest Italian community in Britain, originating from the 1950s and early 60s, when more than 7,500 men were recruited from the villages of southern Italy to work in the many brickworks that were located close to the town.
