Britain By Car - A Motoring History

Somerset

A rural county of great contrasts.  Towards the west lie the hills and moorland of the Brendon Hills, the Quantocks, and Exmoor.  In the centre of the county the land is generally much flatter and lower-lying, rising again towards the east in the Mendip Hills.

Somerset also has many centres of historic interest, including the ancient settlement of Glastonbury, the small cathedral city of Wells, and the spa and Roman city of Bath.
