Britain By Car - A Motoring History

Welwyn Garden City

Located about 25 miles north of London, Welwyn Garden City was founded in 1920 by Sir Ebenezer Howard with the intention of providing a living space which combined the benefits of town and country, without the disadvantages of both.

Tree-lined avenues and green open spaces characterised the original townscape, and much of this is retained today.
