Britain By Car - A Motoring History

Cambridge

A city, situated on the River Cam, probably best-known for its University, founded in the early 13th century.  Its college building, the oldest of which dates from 1286, have delightful courtyards, churches, and gardens; many of which are open to the public.

One of reason for the original development of the University was its position as an important trading and commercial centre.  Almost a thousand years later, this continues today.  Cambridge has a diverse economy, with a particular strength in high-tech businesses and research.
